Selection Criteria
Millennium High School is a screened program.  This means that the school selects their applicants based on criteria set by the school.  Criteria to be considered for admission to Millennium includes:
  • A minimum 85% average (average of all core classes).
  • Fewer than 10 combined absences and late marks for the school year.
  • Citywide standardized test scores in level 3 or 4.
Admission preference is given to students who live or attend school below Houston Street, but we currently have students attending from all five boroughs.   In 2008, we had over 4,200 applications for 150 seats.

In addition to the above criteria, it is optional to send a portfolio which includes:
  • A one page personal essay:  Tell us about a challenging problem and how you solved it.  It may be hand written or typed and either single or double spaced is fine.
  • One sample of written work from an English or Social Studies class from 7th, 8th or 9th grade.  The sample must be graded and the student's name and current school must be written on the front page.  The sample will not be returned.
Please note:  Both items must be included in the portfolio and they must be sent together.  We will discard partial or separate submissions.  Please ensure that the student's name and current school are written on the front page of both the essay and writing sample or they will be rejected.

The deadline to submit your portfolio is December 4, 2009 (postmarked by this date).
